Sacked heterosexual marriage celebrity Israel Folau is returning to league and will play another month’s Oceania Cup for Tonga.
Folau had his contract terminated by Rugby Australia after writing on social websites which»hell awaits» gay people.
The Tonga National Rugby League stated Folau was cleared to play by the Rugby League International Federation.
«I am so grateful to have the opportunity to reflect God, my family, my heritage and the people of Tonga,» explained Folau, a devout Christian.
The 30-year-old, who has Tongan legacy, will confront a touring Great Britain side in Hamilton, New Zealand October, before coming up on 2.
Folau was among Australia’s highest-paid athletes. He played Australian rules soccer before changing codes to rugby union and represented his nation.
The Wallabies and team side New South Wales Waratahs sacked him in May after his post. Rugby officials stated Folau violated a gamers’ code of conduct.
Folau claims his contract was ended due to his beliefs and also is still suing the business.
In representing Tonga his 24-year-old brother, John will joins the full-back. John Folau and both codes have also played with professionally.
«Both brothers have registered to play league throughout the TNRL and are entitled to play international rugby league fittings,» that the Tonga National Rugby League explained.
