Liverpool’s specialist throw-in coach Thomas Gronnemark says Jurgen Klopp’s innovative approach to management will be really to build»something specific» at Anfield.
Klopp made headlines last season when he included his training team and Gronnemark midway through the effort.
The Dane, who holds the world record for the maximum throw-in at 51.33m, had a direct effect on the method of this club full-backs – most notably Joe Gomez.
Liverpool went on to claim the sixth European Cup that season and Gronnemark isn’t surprised to observe the Reds flourishing under Klopp.
«Jurgen is an innovator,» Gronnemark told The Athletic. «He’s a leader who says he does not know everything and is willing to follow individuals if they have knowledge to take the team forward.
«If you’ve got a leader that wants complete control and believes that he knows best about what then will impact your employees.
«Although you’re one of the greatest clubs in the world, it doesn’t mean you have to do exactly the same thing as you did yesterday. You feel as though you’re speaking with a fantastic buddy when you fulfill with Jurgen. He listens a lot.
«To let a guy into the club who was pretty much unknown in England and say ‘we want all your knowledge to place it into the training programme’, that reveals a lot of trust and fantastic leadership.
«He is very good at getting the best out of individuals. It’s much more egotistical in other clubs. At Liverpool, there’s a satisfaction among the team and the gamers. They all feel part of something specific.
«Occasionally I will stop and consider the players in front of me and think,’Oh, this is insane’. I’m working at a club who won the Champions League.
«InitiallyI had a contract for the first half of last season then it was extended for the next half and I have one for the full season.
«I really don’t think many folks are laughing today. I think most folks in soccer look on it and say’Alright, there has to be something inside’.»
