The penultimate stop on the FedExCup playoffs has underway this week at Medinah, Illinois at the BMW Championship. If it has to do with opportunities lists, Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy will be the +800 co-favorites to proceed all of the way.
Koepka and McIlroy are the +800 favorites in BetOnline, together with Jon Rahm (+1000), Dustin Johnson (+1400), Justin Rose (+1600), Justin Thomas (+1600), Patrick Cantlay (+2000), Webb Simpson (+2000), Patrick Reed (+2200) and Adam Scott (+2500) rounding out the top 10.
Just 30 places are on the line for the Tour Championship at East Lake, so a strong performance in Medinah is crucial. The previous time reigning FedExCup champion Rose and 2016 winner McIlroy played with the course was in the 2012 Ryder Cup — a triumph for Europe. The winner of the BMW Championship will get 2,000 FedExCup points. No guy has defended his FedExCup name.
Last year at the championship Keegan Bradley pulled off an unlikely hit to win for first time in more than five years when the occasion was held at Aronimink Golf Club in Newton Square, Pennsylvania. This was the very first time Bradley advanced to the Tour Championship because 2013. The American is a shot to return to back.
The course, a 7,657-yard par 72, has become a staple amongst American golf dating all the way back into the 1920s. The track has hosted the Ryder Cup (2012), three U.S. Opens (1949, 1975 and 1990), 2 PGA Championships (1999, 2006) and also lots of other events in the pre-PGA Tour era.
