Even the penultimate stop on the FedExCup playoffs gets underway this week in Medinah, Illinois in the BMW Championship. If it comes to odds lists, Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy will be the +800 co-favorites to go all of the way.
Koepka and McIlroy will be the +800 favorites in BetOnline, with Jon Rahm (+1000), Dustin Johnson (+1400), Justin Rose (+1600), Justin Thomas (+1600), Patrick Cantlay (+2000), Webb Simpson (+2000), Patrick Reed (+2200) and Adam Scott (+2500) rounding out the top 10.
Only 30 places are on the line for the Tour Championship at East Lake, thus a solid performance in Medinah is crucial. The last time reigning FedExCup winner Rose and 2016 champion McIlroy played with the course was at the 2012 Ryder Cup — a victory for Europe. The winner of the BMW Championship will receive 2,000 FedExCup points. No man has defended his FedExCup title.
Last year in the championship Keegan Bradley pulled off an improbable hit to win for the first time in over five years when the occasion was held at Aronimink Golf Club in Newton Square, Pennsylvania. It was the first time Bradley advanced to the Tour Championship because 2013. The American is a shot.
The program, a 7,657-yard level 72, has been a staple amongst American golfing dating all of the way back into the 1920s. The track has hosted the Ryder Cup (2012), three U.S. Opens (1949, 1975 and 1990), two PGA Championships (1999, 2006) and also a number of other events in the pre-PGA Tour era.
