Efenseman Scott Harrington has re-signed using the Columbus Blue Jackets on a three-year deal that runs throughout the 2021-22 season.
Harrington, who was a restricted free agent, played 73 games with the Blue Jackets last season and had two goals and a career-best 15 assists.
«Scott Harrington is a really clever, dependable defenseman who made great strides to become a regular contributor on our blueline last year,» said Jarmo Kekalainen, the group’s general manager.
«He works very hard and has continued to improve steadily over the previous 3 seasons. Scott has revealed himself to be a superb leader who has earned the respect of his teammates and coaches and we look forward to his continued contributions to our team »
Harrington, 26, was originally a second-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins at 2011. He played in 10 games with the Penguins at 2014-15 and 15 together with the Toronto Maple Leafs the next season before being acquired by the Blue Jackets at a trade.
He played parts of the past two seasons in Columbus before getting a routine in the 2018-19 year old.
Details of the deal were undisclosed, but reports pegged it as being worth an yearly average value of $1.633 million each year.
