Crystal Ocean endured a career-ending injury on the Newmarket gallops on Thursday morning.
The Sir Michael Stoute-trained five-year-old was participate in a routine canter as his preparation for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe or the Champion Stakes at Ascot continuing.
His racing days are finished, Although it is likely the Sea The Stars whole will regain to enjoy another career at stud.
Peter Stanley, spokesman for owner Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, told the PA news agency:”He’s had to have two screws inserted right into a cannon bone.
“He’s fine after surgery, he’s come through the surgery and can be up and around.
“At this stage the vet sees no problem whatsoever in him going into burst, but it is early days.
“Clearly it did not happen long ago, but the hope is that he makes a full recovery.”
Never out of the initial three in a career, Crystal Ocean was involved in an epic struggle with this year’s King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, only missing out to Enable.
For a brief spell he finally landed the Group Among and was the horse on earth of his persistent efforts deserved in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot, where he was ridden by Frankie Dettori.
