Following heading the team’s best result because their yield at Monza, daniel Ricciardo reserved special praise for Renault’s engine department.
Ricciardo claimed his greatest finish since joining the team, fourth, whilst team-mate Nico Hulkenberg matched his very best ending for Renault following an Italian GP weekend in which their car consistently ran in the top six with fifth.
When Fernando Alonso won the race along with Nelson Piquet Jr ended fourth the outcome represented the greatest end for a functions Renault squad since the 2008 Western GP.
Ricciardo, who ran Renault power for five years at Red Bull before linking the Enstone group at the onset of the year, said the success was especially deserved by the maker’s often-criticised engine operation.
«Obviously I’m happy for the whole group, but I want to give a special shout out to the boys at Viry constructing the engines,» said Ricciardo to Sky Sports F1’s Karun Chandhok.
«To get the best team consequence, here in Monza on a power circuit, because 2008 is a real announcement. They copped a lot of grief during the past few years and they have made some huge profits this year on the energy unit. This one’s for them.»
The large haul from Monza may function to kickstart up what then was an amazing season. Renault have moved into fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship forward of Toro Rosso and closed in fourth to within 18 points of McLaren.
«Since Canada we had not really got the maximum result from it,» said Ricciardo, who ended a three-race run without points.
«I really believe we had been a fourth-placed car today. Seb (Vettel) gave us a tiny help, but once we had been in fourth I certainly feel we had that pace.»
Asked when they can now maintain such a degree of performance, Ricciardo replied:»I actually wish we can and hope we can.
«We are coming up to various circuits – high-downforce Singapore, road circuit, hard – but even though this can be Monza and it is exceptional and you take all of the wing away, I certainly think there is something we can nevertheless learn from that.»
Team boss Cyril Abiteboul described the weekend as»a demonstration after Montreal and Spa the obvious progress of the group and in particular on the power unit side that’s been so publicly criticised in the past».
«It’s a demonstration that everything is liquid with a competitive package,» added the Frenchman. «It is also an invitation to replicate these types of emotions, when our season was far from a smooth ride so far. Our drivers show what they can do with a competitive car.»
