Coy, a sailor without a boat, exiled from the sea by a navigation accident during his watch, meets in Barcelona – at an auction of naval objects – an attractive and mysterious woman, Tanger, who in hard struggle with an Italian adventurer, Nino Palermo, manages to get a cartographic jewel of the 18th century, the Maritime Atlas of Urrutia. A fourth character will also appear on the scene, Horacio Kiskoros, an Argentine with a dark past and an even more tortuous present, uses extreme expeditious methods to achieve what he pursues.
Coy will gradually discover that these three characters have a common goal: the Dei Gloria, a brig sunk off the coast of Cartagena three centuries ago, carrying a mysterious treasure related to the expulsion of the Jesuits from Spain.

I had always dreamed of the possibility of making an adventure film in the sea that would connect with the books that had fascinated me in my childhood.
And one day, that dream of adventures found an extraordinary vehicle. I knew it as soon as I finished reading the novel by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, who also drank from the same sources. I Immediately called the author to make him an accomplice of my enthusiasm and there everything started … although it would still take several years for the project to materialize.
When I finally sat down before the blank page to write the first sequence of the script, I thought, as always that the adaptation of the novel was going to be difficult and laborious, but to my surprise, the first version came out very easily and the changes that I introduced with respect to the original text not only received the approval of the author, but Arturo himself helped me by advising on certain aspects or polishing certain dialogues.
