Jonathan Woodgate:”I thought we needed to win it. We stood solid, although I thought towards the close of the game they piled on the pressure. We needed to find that inner steel that belief and that I thought we did this like I mentioned at the week.
“I thought we needed to win the match. I thought we all looked dangerous on the counter-attack at times and may have been a couple of goals up. It was well deserved, and I was so pleased for the lads, they handed everything.”
Jose Gomes:”Puscas, Joao and Pele did not start. Pele and Puscas had travelled for their national group, but that wasn’t the sole reason. The rationale was that I did not enjoy the manner they played in the game.
“I have six strikers, they are all great players, and they must all fight for their position. They have to give and it’s my obligation as their supervisor to demand that. When they do not give the maximum that they can, in my opinion, then we’ve got very great high quality players that can replace them play”
