Phil Taylor has called to be included in this year’s Grand Slam of Darts at Wolverhampton.
Bennett stormed into the spotlight.
The schoolboy nicknamed’Boom Boom’ has also scooped six of the 10 events on the Junior Darts Corporation circuit and has enjoyed success on the BDO Tour in 2019.
PDC chairman Barry Hearn has advocated the BDO to comprise Bennett among the eight representatives for the cross-code event of November and speculation is mounting that the 13-year-old has been considered for selection.
The Lincolnshire-born celebrity has risen to 17th above the likes of Martin Adams and Scott Waites, also Taylor considers tremendous interest would be generated by Bennett addition.
«I’m not a large dart-watcher,» Taylor told Sky Sports.
«Somebody just asked me a question regarding young Leighton Bennett and should he have a wildcard to Wolverhampton?
«My response was that I really don’t see the darts on TV but if Leighton Bennett understands a wildcard I’ll watch it since he’s exciting. He is a nightmare to perform.»
Taylor retired from competitive action after the 2018 World Championship, but Bennett has been confronted by the 16-time world champion twice on the display circuit in recent months and he has experienced mixed fortunes.
‘The’ Power’ conquered the child 10-7 in March at the Tower of London, although Bennett acquired his revenge, beating the in the SAP Darts Slam at Frankfurt back .
«I’ve played him a couple of times and he’s an absolute nightmare, since he’s a young lad and he is good,» Taylor added.
«He’s got no fear at him whatsoever. I quite like that in him.»
