«Through the offseason, I have a tendency to lift over run,» Pierce advised WNSP-FM radio Alabama on Friday, through AL.com. «Being a nose shield, I want to be strong or what not. I, honestly, just mismanaged my running a little bit.»
Ravens coach John Harbaugh pulled Pierce off the practice field during the stretching portion of the team’s minicamp on Tuesday following the DT revealed up reportedly looking nicely over his listed weight of 340 lbs. Baltimore defensive coordinator Don Martindale said that he had been»disappointed» at the shape Pierce showed in.
«Out of respect for coach Harbaugh, he has been nothing but a fair man, he only needed me to invest in with the strength and conditioning staff and do more running before camp comes,» Pierce explained. «At the close of the day, you anticipate a team leader to return in better shape than I did. That. I don’t need to get into a whole lot more than this.»
Pierce is set to earn a colour over $3 million on his free agent tender. He should get in better shape before the Ravens open training camp by the end of July.
