Ronda Rousey will create her long-awaited return to the Octagon when she challenges Amanda Nunes for the UFC women’s bantamweight title at UFC 207. Rousey hasn’t fought because she dropped the belt — in her lone career reduction — to Holly Holm in UFC 193.
Rousey’s most significant features are finishing ability and her aggression. “Rowdy” hasn’t once gone to the judges’ scorecards in her 13-fight pro career with 11 career victories via first-round stoppage. She’s always pushing the pace and has fluid grappling skills to set up her submission match. But, it became evident in the Holm struggle she could be frustrated and stifled by an opponent with great footwork.
Nunes rarely proceeds to conclusion , as she’s gone the distance only twice in her 17 expert fights. She’s technically sound on the feet with huge power in her hands. More often than not, she uses her wrestling ability to take the battle to the mat and use barbarous ground and pound to finish her opponent. “The Lioness” has been known to gas out, however, and her hyper-aggressive style implies that the longer the fight goes, the worse it gets for the champion.
UFC 207 will take place on December 30.
